Community guidelines

Last updated: 19 October 2026

Moto Together is a community for all UK riders, whatever you ride. These guidelines explain how we look after each other. They form part of our Terms of Membership (/terms).

The short version

Be friendly, be helpful, keep it legal and look out for each other. Treat every member the way you would want to be treated at a bike meet.

Be respectful

  • Disagree with ideas, not people. Banter is fine; bullying, abuse, threats and personal attacks are not.
  • No hate. We do not allow content that attacks or demeans people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • No harassment. If someone asks you to stop messaging them, stop. Do not use multiple accounts or other people to get around a block.
  • Respect privacy. Do not share anyone's personal details (such as their address, phone number, number plate or workplace) or private messages without their permission.

Keep it legal and safe

We remove illegal content as soon as we become aware of it and may report it to the police. Never post or share:

  • threats of violence, or content encouraging terrorism, violence or self-harm;
  • any sexual content involving under-18s, or any sexual or nude images of anyone without their consent;
  • fraud, scams, phishing, or offers of stolen, counterfeit or illegal goods (including stolen bikes or parts);
  • content promoting illegal drugs, weapons or other illegal activity;
  • content that infringes someone else's copyright or trade marks; or
  • false or misleading information intended to cause harm.

Riding content. Ride stories and videos are what we are about, but do not post content that encourages dangerous or illegal riding on public roads, such as street racing or riding under the influence. Track days and organised events are great.

Sensitive topics. Some of our charities support mental health. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out: you can call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time. In an emergency, call 999.

Keep it relevant and honest

  • Post in the right community (Ride, Food, Charity, Event or General) and keep topics on topic.
  • Reviews and ratings must be genuine and based on your own experience. Do not review a business you own, work for or are paid by, and do not post fake reviews.
  • No spam or unauthorised advertising. Members may mention their own bike-related business where relevant, but please do not post repeated adverts, send sales messages to other members or post affiliate links. Partner deals are arranged by the MTA team.
  • Directory submissions must be real, publicly accessible businesses or places relevant to riders.

Photos, routes and files

  • Only share photos you have the right to share. Ask before posting clear photos of other people, especially children.
  • Think about your privacy. GPX files and photos can show where you live. Consider trimming the start and end of routes and removing location data from photos.
  • Attachments must be photos, GPX route files or PDFs, and must not contain anything harmful.

Direct messages

Messages are private between you and the other member, but these guidelines still apply. You can block anyone at any time, and you can report a member if their messages break these guidelines.

Reporting and what happens next

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, use the Report button on the topic, reply or member. You can also tell us at hello@mototogether.co.uk. Reports are reviewed by the MTA team. We may:

  • remove content;
  • give a warning;
  • suspend an account; or
  • close an account permanently, for serious or repeated breaches.

We will let you know in the app if we remove your content. If you disagree with a decision, you can appeal using the contact form (choose "Complaint or appeal") or by emailing hello@mototogether.co.uk. See section 7 of our Terms of Membership for how complaints and appeals work.

Thanks for helping keep Moto Together a great place to be. Ride safe.
